Contemporary Art bookshop

In February this year, Culturgest opened a bookshop that specialises in contemporary art. It is a small bookshop that will gradually grow in size and whose items are very carefully selected, based on constant research and free of commercial constraints.

Naturally, Culturgest’s own publications are all to be found here. Since one of the aims of this bookshop is to establish a support framework for the Culturgest exhibition programme, it includes many publications relating to artists who have already exhibited their work here: for example, Mark Manders, Kees Goudzwaard, Jean-Luc Moulène, Walid Raad, Francisco Tropa, Frances Stark, Willem Oorebeek, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Matt Mullican, Peter Fischli and David Weiss, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Rachel Harrison, and Batia Suter.

But other artists are also well represented here: Eva Hesse, Dan Graham, Cosima von Bonin, Isa Genzken, Blinky Palermo, Aglaia Konrad, Stanley Brouwn, and Marcel Broodthaers, just to give a few examples. The bookshop includes a broad selection of artists’ own writings and interviews, another section on art theory and history, as well as a whole panoply of highly diverse publications that can sometimes be grouped together in small clusters.

Established artists and authors rub shoulders with others that are less well known; large-scale publishers (Yale University Press, MIT Press, University of California Press, Walther König, JRP Ringier, Steidl) share shelves with lesser-sized publishing projects (for example, Roma Publications, Ridinghouse, or Sternberg Press) or even very small publishers (Primary Information or Occasional Papers).

The publications are placed on sale at very tempting prices, so that we can share them with as many people as possible.
